Ergonomic Pens and Pencils For Children

Children with specific disabilities may not be capable of holding standard pens and pencils. There are other children who might not be able to hold standard products at the moment and may have difficulty writing. Ergonomic pencils are designed specifically to ease the difficulty while writing. Giving the child the correct ergonomic writing tools can help in the success of their learning. Here are some of the different styles of pens and pencils that are offered:

The Pen Again is a well known ergonomic pen that contains a “U” shape at the top of the pen. The way this is used is the forefingers rest in the “U” shape. It requires less hand strength to use this and less grip is required to control the pen. The forefinger holds the pen in place without having to grip as hard. Pen Again is in the process of working on a child size ergonomic pencil for the children with smaller hands. The Pen Again takes some time getting use to, but with practice, Pen Again can make writing much easier.

There’s also the Ring Pen. The Ring Pen is similar to the Pen Again, but the only difference is the Ring Pen has a circle that the forefinger goes in instead of a “U” shape. The pen is worn just like a ring and requires no gripping.

There is also the Wanchick Hand Based Writer. This is a tool that is worn on the hand and fits around the hand and forefinger. The forefinger part has a loop where the pen is inserted. It requires very little grip and strength. This is excellent for children that have little strength to hold onto a pen. Since it wraps around the hand, the pen cannot be dropped.

The EZ Grip is a more common item that is used for pens and pencils. The EZ Grip is a rubber grip that slips on pens and pencils. The EZ Grip reduces hand pain while writing. EZ Grip may help a child with pen grip and coordination.

There are several ergonomic pens and pencils that come in various shapes and sizes. Heavy pens can help children with coordination problems in their writing. Some children may find the bigger pens and pencils easier to hold, while others may find the small pens and pencils easier to use.

It’s encouraged to let the child experiment with the various writing utensils to find which one is best for them.
